How I got nicknamed Schmervis,
and other fascinating facts.
Long before everyone was named Ethan, I ran into another one. Other Ethan. Although to Other Ethan, I was Other Ethan. Long story short, one day Other Ethan declared “You are no longer Ethan. You are Schmervis.” And from that moment on, it was so. I have yet to run into Other Schmervis.
Anyways. Here’s some much more useful information about me.
In my most recent full time role at Mccann NY, I directed a team of 20+ creatives and built the Mastercard creative team into a well-oiled machine. Spearheading several award-winning integrated campaigns for payment products, small business, b2b, Grammys, Copa America, su2c and then some. The team efforts led to a 56% rise in Mastercard’s brand value, 854 million new cards in circulation and 67% revenue increase (over a 5-year period). Along the way, I was awarded the Grand Prix, along with several other lions and pencils, including the Penta Pencil for 5 years of great marketing.
I’ve also worked at agencies like Mother, 72 & Sunny, R/GA, Sid Lee and Saatchi & Saatchi on a wide-variety of clients, including (lots of) tech, retail, package goods and pretty much every other category out there.
Beyond that, I’m just a Jersey dad trying not to cry at Pixar movies. While helping my theatrical daughter learn her lines. And writing shoegaze songs in my basement.
